It's just not that hard to get anything in this game. I've never farmed and I've sold 1 single item for 5k and that's it. I've got 2 characters done and a third getting closer.

Now you can GvG and unlock any item for PvP as well.

There's just no need to have more gold in this game and I'm glad they're toning it down. I've given away at least a dozen, probably closer to 3 dozen max dmg gold weapons. I've got what I think is the best monk wand with 3 different ankh's, one 20/20 with dmg, one with armor and HP and one with more energy but a negative energy regen that I almost never use.

I can understand the PvP players that don't GvG being a bit upset but I can't understand PvE being upset about this. What area in PvE do you need the gold for? I've never gotten less than 1k worth of merchant stuff from UW.

I'm not that bright, if it's so easy for me then how is it so difficult for you that you're thinking of quitting over it?

What, you want 100k on 4 different characters and 10 sigils each?

I'm glad for the changes they made. Now if they'll just focus on getting the free areas out, hopefully with even more challenging enemies, and more casters included.
Here's something I just posted in another thread that sums up my reasons pretty well.

"I think a lot of people are missing the point of these threads we've got going. We aren't angry because we don't have the most 1337 ub3|2 weapons in the game, we're angry because we used to enjoy WORKING for something. See I personally have BEATEN the game...4 times. What the hell do I do now?

There is NOTHING else for me to do except PvP...which I don't find entertaining at all being that everything is so small scale and relatively meaningless/without reward, so I try to get what I can out of PvE now.

I need ONE more superior vigor to complete the rune set for my last character, I have a total of 4k having bought everything for 3 characters. What am I supposed to do now? I can't get enough money for that if I tried for hours on end. Am I supposed to just move to another game now? Should I really just have to say "Yeah ok GW is empty now" and move on? That's just...dumb. They put the more expensive optional items in there for people like me who need a more lasting appeal to the game, but if I have no hope of affording them...why bother?

That's why we want farming back, not because we want to be 1337 h4x0r5 but because without it the game is empty and finished, with no hopes of reaching the final goals otherwise there's no point to continue without it."

No need for more gold? How about gold period? "15k armor in every color".. how about ONE BLOODY SET. I can't even afford that, and I've got 300+ hours logged.

Also: Have you ever stopped to think that maybe not all players enjoy PvP or GvG?

"I've never gotten less than 1k worth of merchant stuff from UW."- Have you been to UW recently? For that matter, have you even PLAYED the game since the update?

They can compete because free items (from collectors) far outclass rare items in competitive play.

Well, Guild Wars was always billed as a PvP-centric game. Buying Guild Wars for the PvE is much the same as someone who only likes PvP buying, say, FFXI.

with the reduced number of drops, it'd take probably several weeks of "normal play" in order to find enough collectors items to trade.

No you wouldn't. Their drop rate is fairly high.

Don't really know any better and/or can't help it. Though they would make less money farmers and bots will still prosper more than Average Joe. I guess its just unavoidable. Though this is only my opinion, so give me enough to shake my idea and I will change it, but right now the fixes aproach seems questionable.

(This is a Quickly Though Up Idea)If you really want to be able to farm then Anet should make some specific farming areas where at the end of your farming experience you get to keep only X of the items you actually farmed, ratios would change if it were a material (so material will be say 5X). Guess what this idea will totally f*** over bots and they will gain nothing more than Average Joe. To enter the areas the game could demand money or certain things, perhaps a redoable FUN quest that alters due to class and gets harder (to a point) the more you do it. (but not items as we know what can happen with this).

So thats a quick idea but I like so comment on it. As for not getting more than one rare from pre to hell's, that doesn't matter because on your journey you will run into hundreds of upgrades and many will be good or on par with any rare you may get. This will ultimatly allow you to have A personally customized super weapon, or atleast something you can be happy with.
Felt like quoting my self, while agreeing with Tippy, that some people aren't reading what is being written. This is truly turning into the way everyone treated pvpers, though this is much more of an issue than the problems with PvP. Honestly open your eyes people.

Yeah I'm with Emperor on this one, I got the petition going (and it's going nicely I'll say ) in the Sanitarium, I've said my points several times, each time they're overlooked. People are missing the point, we don't care about "having the greatest runes or items" I care about having more to do in the game. There is nothing else for me but to go for my last few sets of armor, or the fissure armor even. I can't buy the last weapon upgrades I wanted, or my last superior vigor to finalize and complete my beloved characters. It's as simple as that. Until I can do that I've beaten the game and there's nothing more to do. PvP is too drab, too small, there's NO point to it at all...it's just little tiny meaningless skirmishes that award you with nothing more than words saying you won. So I tried to farm and work towards a goal, the last things I needed in the game. If I'm unable to do that in any sense. There's no more reason to play the game, and I'd hate to have to seperate from GW until the next expansion because I can't afford to hit my goals.

Well I haven't slept since the update, but it's breakfast time so I'm going to do that. I'd say we got the ball rolling pretty damn well, I need to pull out for a bit before it turns out like that "negative comments about the update" thread a while back that was like 30 pages long of the same points overlooked and repeated.

Cheers.

Gods I have given up on this thread. The people who can't grast a simple concept are awake. It is time to sleep. If this thread has returened to intelligent conversation were I don't have to reiterate the same point 50 million times for you to understand it I may return. Hell I even gave you people numbers in one post about how the update reduced buying power. I have explained how this doesn't hurt anywell extablished players. How the only person really hurt at least for a long time is the new player. I have explained how the PvPers still make money. (and so have others) I have explained how the runners make money. I have explained how this will ruin the economy and make it worse and you still can't get it.

/ends rant
(I have got like 4 posts asking for explanations on these things)

I don't think some of the people against this thread really get it. We're not complaining becuase we can't get sup3rly U13er 1337 items. We're complaining becuase we can't get anything at all. If you want to play this game to it's fullest then you have to spend money. Money on identification kits and salvage kits, and money on armour.(i'm supposed to face lvl20+ monsters with the armour I started with?!?!) And you can hardly even get money now. So it's not like wah wah wah, i can't pwnzor this monster. It's holy crap i can hardly get through the game.

I have, and in an hour of casually smashing things out of boredom, I've got enough Mountain Troll Tusks to trade in for two ideal-bonus Short Bows, more raw materials for replacement pieces of armour (should I ever decide to change my runes) and some pocket change. I really fail to see what you're whinging about.

I still dont get why people LIKE to farm. I am not an advocate for farming, and i never will. All farming is is another form of GRIND. Basically you are grinding, killing all the monsters in hopes of getting gold or items. Who likes grind?

I dont find it hard at all to get gold and items. If you just play through the game and have fun with it, you will get all the items you need. I think the problem is is that people want to best 15k armor all black NOW and they think the update is hindering them from getting that.

I like the update in that it discourages farmers because now it will take a longer to get good items and gold. Why would you have created this thread if you were not disappointed that you couldnt farm anymore?

I think many of you are just looking at the situation in a different perspective as to what ANet was looking at it.

People will find away to turn it into exactly that, its just human nature to piss the other people off, hence why wars occur :P . I am off to breakfast as well, though unlike you I have slept :P .

The problem is that now people who play casually can barely get jack squat, yes they will make their custom super item from parts they get along the way but what about those nice armours and things waiting for them in draknor's and beyond?

Add an update were Faction is nerfed not increased and see how you all like it. You essential were given more drops because of more faction while the PvEers were given drasticaly decreased drops.

Gaile Gray has said that FARMING IS FINE its botting thats bad.

With the new update just playing through the game nets you about a third of the gold that you used to get for it. This combined with the decreased buying power of your gold because of the economic 'fixes' is what causes the problem.

Ok so maybe increasing drops wouldn't help. But decreasing them certainly doesn't help either. What was attainable through normal play yesterday is only attainable through farming today. :/

Well... actually.. here's an idea: A while back when they made the first big farming nerf they said that drops would gradually decrease when an area is being heavily farmed. I'm wondering if:

A) they changed it so that if an area is being farmed, the drop rate is affected GLOBALLY, not just for the player(s) farming it.
B) something broke and now all areas are marked as being "heavily farmed" and so drop rates everywhere have been affected.

In any case, I have an idea for a solution: balance out the drop rate decrease. Say when you first enter an area, drops are plentiful. But the more stuff you kill, the less stuff drops. After 3 or 4 runs in an area (when I say area, I mean region, ie: Crystal Desert, Southern Shiverpeaks, Ring of Fire, etc) killing all creatures, the drops should be reduced to where they are now, possibly a little less. Over time, the drops would gradually increase back to normal. This should NOT affect drops globally, as this would ruin the drops for other players who do not farm.

And to those who say farming is "unethical": every time you go to FoW or UW, you do realize that you are essentially farming. Farming for XP, obsidian, etc.

They'll earn them in time. That's what I did. I got several sets of 1.5k armour (from collectors and crafters) and perfect weapons as soon as I reached Droknars, without a single bit of farming. That much requires little more than pocket change (if you're short, have Guildmates help out). Over the past two months I've been slowly amassing gold through PvP as I've had nothing to spend it on. A few days ago, I realised I had enough money to buy every set of Ascended armour, Superior Vigor for every set, and 60 platinum change from that. Ascended armour isn't something you aim for. It's just something you buy when you have the money to burn.

I haven't played since the last update, but I've always thought that the monsters drop rate was way too high, but most of the stuff is pretty useless unless even scavenging it.

The ironic thing is if its harder to get items, hardcore farmers will just farm longer hours...hence there will be more of a grind.

Methinks I better start playing to see what is up

I think it may be a mix between 1 and 2, as I believe there is also a bug with the traders right now. The idea you proposed is already in the game if I am not mistaken, the dynamic drop control system, that flags you after enough farming. Unless they removed it for the old fashioned bat.

You're completely missing the 2nd point of my post. All the NPC traders are now broken. You can't sell the items you worked for (FARMING OR NOT, I DON'T BLOODY CARE) without GRINDING the freaking trade channels for HOURS trying to sell a damn thing.
